Robinson Horsemanship is more than a business.  It is my passion.  It is a blessing to get up everyday, put on my boots, and ride horses.  My goal is to not just help horses, but to help people. I am truly blessed by the relationships that are built through this process.

ClDon & Smart Spooks Playboyck hSere to add text.
I first met Don last year while doing lessons at a neighbor’s arena. He later visited with me at a few local shows and watched me show a 6-year-old stud out of Smart Chic Olena. Don said that he was so impressed with how well mannered all of the stallions I rode were that he was considering buying one.
Last fall Don stopped by Robinson Ranch, he told me about a two year old out of Smart Spook that was going through the sale at the snaffle bit futurity in Reno. Don was so impressed with the colt he told me he was leaving in the morning for Reno with the intentions of buying the colt, which would be placed in the Robinson Horsemanship training program. Well, Don made his purchase and made good on his word to send the colt to me for training and showing. Smart Spook's Playboy has now been with me for a year and it’s been quite a year to say the least!
I cannot express what an amazing colt Smart Spooks Playboy is.  I have often said, that if there were a picture of the perfect quarter horse it would be Playboy. He has every great quality that makes quarter horses the amazing athletes they are. If there is anything that beats his conformation its his disposition. No matter what I ask of him he tries his heart out and never loses his cool.
For only being a 3-year-old stud, Playboy has had a great start with many significant accomplishments. Playboy won 3 out of the 5 NRHA Buckle Series shows at Willow Glen Equestrian Center in El Cajon, CA. The first being his maidens run in an NRHA event. With those wins he captured the years end championship in the 5 and under snaffle/hackamore class.
I started ranch roping and working cattle on Playboy this summer.  Playboy has such talent and accepts his training with such ease, that he qualified for the WSRRA world championships in the working ranch horse division. This is quite a feat as the horses he was running against were years older than him.

As with all my horses I want them to be as versatile as possible and Playboy is no exception.  As part of his all around training program, I also took him through trail and cowboy racing training. I entered him in the 4th Annual Chad's Cowboy Challenge in Ramona, CA. and won the Open Championship Division Title on him. Playboy handled the course like he had been doing it for years. Jumping barrels, dragging logs, cow work and tarps and trailering.  Nothing bothered him!
This fall, I entered Playboy in another cowboy challenge benefitting a local young lady who had been hurt in a horse related accident. Again, Playboy stayed calm, cool, smooth, and fast and won the Open Championship Division Title with ease.
We are planning to show Playboy early spring 2011 at the Sun Circuit in Arizona and will be showing him this season in reined cow horse, as well as continuing to show him in more NRHA events.
Playboy exemplifies what natural talent, good breeding, and quality consistent horsemanship methods, like those used by Robinson Horsemanship can achieve in a short time.  We have our plans laid; our sights set, and are looking forward to many successful years of showing this great stallion.
Don is extremely pleased with what Playboy and I have partnered up to do this past year and we all look forward to 2011 and beyond. Don is a great friend and client who is willing to send Playboy out into the horse world to see just how far he can really go. I greatly appreciate the trust and vision Don has for this remarkable colt, and feel very blessed to be training and showing such an amazing horse.  Look for Playboy at the 2012 World's Greatest Horseman competition!

Lauren "LT" & See Bee Nic
Lauren Bilz and I met 4 years ago at a clinic I was doing at Heartland Equestrian Center in Lakeside, CA.  The moment I saw her horseback, I knew that she had a lot of natural ability and took horsemanship seriously. In talking and riding with her it was not hard to see that mastering horsemanship and the passion for it, was definitely her thing. LT, as I nicknamed her, has been riding with me on and off since that first clinic. In fact, because of her willingness to schedule new clinics and set up private lessons for me when I was in the S.D. area I decided to move to Lakeside. She truly is one of the biggest reasons I moved here.

LT's talent had outgrown her paint mare. She told me that she was on the hunt for a reiner that could help launch her show career and teach her more about reining. On a trip back home to Idaho I went to ride with a great friend and fellow trainer, Shane Wagoner. Shane had been training and showing a great little gelding named SeeBee Nic. I had seen the horse when he was a 2 year old and really liked him. I watched Shane ride him and then I rode him. Nic was the perfect fit for LT. He had all the right stuff and I knew LT would love him. I called her and told her I was riding her horse and that she should really take a good look at him. After seeing some video and doing some talking the deal was made and I made a return trip to Idaho to pick up her new horse! I think I was ALMOST as excited as LT was!

This was a trip to bring a great horse and rider together, but became so much more.  I was living in Las Vegas at the time. It was during that trip to Lakeside to deliver Nic to LT that my wife and I found the ranch that is now the home of Robinson Horsemanship.

It was evident during LT's first ride on Nic that they are a perfect match. Though Nic, is awesome, he is not a push button horse. You have to ride him and ride him correctly to get the performance.  Nic opened up a whole new world to her with his ability and helped her step up her game as a rider.

LT moved Nic into our barn as soon as we moved in and has been riding with me since. It has been a great blessing to be a part of this journey and so much fun to see the two of them performing and winning!

Lt and Nic hit the show gate running in 2009. During their first show season together LT learned that inside the show pen was not quite like riding at home. She learned so many great lessons that year and showed Nic better every time they went through the gate. At the end of their first season I told her that in 2010 she would have to start shopping for belts to hold all of her new buckles she was bound to win.

LT has continued to work hard and improve her game at every level and they just keep getting better! 2010 proved to be the year I expected it to be for the two of them.  LT’s hard work paid off and she won the Green As Grass and Rookie Pro championship buckles at the Willow Glen Equestrian Center NRHA show series! To say the least I am so very proud of LT and Nic.

Again, it has been a blessing and a real pleasure to be a part of such a great thing and to still be involved with the growth, goal setting, and accomplishments.  It is an honor to help her and her horse reach their goals. Not only is LT a great rider full of passion for horses, she is as fine a person as I have ever met. She is admired and loved by all of us here at Robinson Horsemanship and will always be a part of our family.

LT will be out there in 2011 spinnin' and grinnin' and ridin’ and slidin’! Best of luck this coming year! It's going to be a blast!
